How can practicing farriers gain new skills?

It’s amazing how much benefit can come to practicing farriers who take advantage of our Butler Professional Farrier School, LLC Tune-Up Courses. You receive personalized one-on-one training that’s customized to your needs in this one-week advanced training. Your day begins at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Even after the second day, one-on-one students can’t believe how much they’ve already learned! It is hard to self-assess where you are in your farrier skills. At BPFS, you learn not only where you are, but what the next step is to reach for and achieve – along with encouragement that you can do it.

“It was probably the best week of farrier education that I’ve had in my career. I very much appreciated the amount of personal attention from Jacob and Dr. Butler, too. The amount of attention from both of them and what they shared in the way of pointers and recommendations far exceeded what I expected. The amount of attention here – compared to other places I’ve been – was much greater. I feel like I’ve learned skills across the board – forging skills, a lot of blacksmithing things, shoe modification, building bar shoes, and also skills under the horse. One big thing was working on the fit of the shoe; I feel like I’ve gotten a huge amount of help on assessing the shape of the foot and how to shape a shoe to that foot, and that’s a great help. The facilities were great, and also the fact there were horses on the grounds to work with provides a great opportunity. The daily schedule was mainly created upon my wishes of whatever was useful to me, and that was fantastic. I feel like everything I came to learn was met. And beyond that, it felt wonderful to get into some other things I wasn’t expecting in how to increase the speed of my shoeing which is going to make it possible to shoe quite a few more horses in the day and in the week. It’s going to be possible to tackle my daily shoeing in a different way, for I got clarity on a number of issues. Right in the moment I can think of a number of horses I’m going to shoe a little different. In the coming weeks, I’ll be building this into my daily work, and it will be interesting to see how the efficiency will continue to increase. I think it’s accurate to say that I’ve increased my efficiency at least 30% by being here. This week has far exceeded my expectations.”
