About Us

We’ve been in business since 1974 as a self-publisher with our first book,
The Principles of Horseshoeing, and incorporated in 1998 as Doug Butler
Enterprises, Inc. We’re in Education – farrier education materials, in particular.

We put on the very FIRST farrier business conference, Farrier Focus®
Conference, beginning in 2000; established Butler Professional Farrier School,
LLC in 2007; became the first horseshoeing school read into the Congressional
Record in August in Washington, D.C., when Butler Professional Farrier School,
LLC won a 2018 “Excellence in Economic Development” Award for Nebraska’s 3 rd
District – among many hallmarks of our business.

Sons Jake and Pete Butler are carrying on the Legacy in their roles as
administrators and motivational instructors at our school located on a ranch
south of Chadron, Nebraska. We’ve had students from six continents, throughout
Canada and coast-to-coast from the United States.

The pioneer of modern-day horseshoeing, Doug Butler, is internationally
recognized for his contribution to raising the standard of farrier practice and
welfare of horses – feet first. After teaching for 30 years at several universities,
Doug left college education to pursue his own dreams of helping individuals with
the desire to become horse industry professionals. Our world-class training center
forges a firm foundation for horses, farriers & for life.
